The third general election to the Welsh National Assembly was held on 3 May 2007.
The UK local elections were held on 5 May 2011. In addition, a UK-wide referendum on whether to adopt the Alternative Vote electoral system for elections to the House of Commons was held, as well as a by-election in Leicester South.
The 2012 UK local elections were held on 3 May 2012. Elections were held in 131 English local authorities, all 32 Scottish local authorities and 21 of the 22 Welsh unitary authorities.
The 2013 United Kingdom local elections took place on Thursday 2 May 2013. Elections were held in 35 English councils, including all 27 non-metropolitan county councils and eight unitary authorities, and in one Welsh unitary authority.
The 2014 United Kingdom local elections were held on 22 May 2014 as provided by 'The Local Elections (Ordinary Day of Elections in 2014) Order 2013'.
In the autumn of 2014 two Conservatives MP joined UKIP, and resigned to re-stand as UKIP candidates. Unlike most other by elections, the BBC broadcast special election hustings of all the main candidates.
