Sky News is a 24-hour international multimedia news organisation based in the UK that started as a 24-hour television news channel. John Ryley is the Head of Sky News, a role he has held since June 2006.
Sky News launched on Sunday, February 5th 1989 at 6pm.
A new look for Sky News was unveiled on 1st September 1993.
Another corporate look was launched for Sky on 1st September 1995.

On 1 October 2001 Sky News introduced a new look.
On 24 October 2005, Sky News moved to a new studio with revised music and on screen graphics all in Widescreen (16:9) format and a new schedule.
Sky News updated its presentation on 31 October 2007.
Sky News was relaunched at 6am on 3 April 2008. The look, which appears to be inspired by CNN International, has fewer on screen graphics and a more minimalist style.

In October 2016, Sky News will be launching a refreshed schedule with new programmes and new presenters.
On 16th January 2018, Sky moved all its news operations over to Studio 21, known as "the glass box", and a new studio in Sky Studios. The logo was also refreshed along with the graphics.
Sky News launched its Irish service on 24 May 2004.
Sky News refreshed its presentation on 24 October 2005. The final Irish bulletin was broadcast on 3 November 2006.
