BBC Points West (known as News West from June 1991 until May 2000) is the BBC’s regional news programme for the West of England, covering Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Produced by BBC West, the programme is produced from the BBC Broadcasting Centre at Whiteladies Road, Bristol with reporters also based at newsrooms in Bath, Taunton, Swindon and Gloucester.
A new look for Points West was launched in 1988.
In 1991, Points West was renamed BBC News West. A new look was introduced at this time.
A new look for BBC News West was introduced in 1993.
The "Points West" name returned to screens on Monday, 22nd May 2000. To coincide with the return of the name, the programme adopted the BBC News style titles and set imposed on all regions at this time.
Along with most other BBC English regional news programmes, Points West updated its titles and graphics on 16 September 2002.
BBC Points West updated its titles and graphics on 7 June 2004.
BBC Points West received a slight makeover on 21 April 2008 to co-incide with the relaunch of BBC News.
